Building the next generation of American leaders.
Our Story
Troop 87 is a proud unit of the Boy Scouts of America, dedicated to developing young men of character, competence, and citizenship. Through outdoor adventure, service projects, and strong mentorship, our scouts learn the skills and values they'll carry for life.

All ScoutsQuarterly recognition ceremonies celebrating rank advancements, merit badges, and exceptional service — a proud tradition for scouts and families.
Troop EventsThe Summit Experience
BSA's High Adventure programs push scouts to their limits — and beyond. Troop 87 regularly participates in all four national High Adventure bases, giving older scouts the challenge, independence, and wilderness experience that defines the pinnacle of Scouting.
These expeditions require planning, physical fitness, and teamwork. They reward participants with memories and skills that last a lifetime.
Most High Adventure bases require scouts to be at least 14 years old (or First Class rank). Physical fitness exams and prep hikes are required. Talk to your Scoutmaster to start your journey.
The crown jewel of BSA High Adventure. Trek 50–100 miles through the rugged Sangre de Cristo mountains over 12 days, carrying everything you need on your back. Philmont is a rite of passage.
Set sail on the crystal-clear waters of the Florida Keys and the Bahamas. Programs include sailing, scuba diving, snorkeling, and open-ocean adventure aboard BSA tall ships and ketches.
Paddle through thousands of lakes and portage across pristine wilderness in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. Winter programs include dog sledding and arctic survival in the Canadian wilderness.
The newest and most dynamic High Adventure base. Zip lines, mountain biking, skateboarding, BMX, whitewater rafting, and a world-class climbing wall — the Summit is unlike anything in Scouting.
Beyond the national bases, Troop 87 plans its own high-adventure experiences each year — selected by scouts, planned by the PLC, and executed as a team.
